Pioneers and innovators in the nascent discipline of photography, David Hill and Robert Adamson were one of history’s most famous photographic partnerships. In her new book, A Perfect Chemistry, Anne Lyden explores the dynamic disputes that brought the pair together and studies the development of their relationship. Their landmark photographs of Scottish landscapes, Fife fisherfolk, and local architectural views were made only four years after the announcement of photographic technology, and are respected as early masterpieces of the medium.
Join us in Parliament Hall to celebrate Anne’s fabulously produced volume, which features over 100 reproductions from the vast collection of the National Galleries of Scotland. Anne’s illustrated talk is organised in conjunction with the St Andrews Photography Festival and is certain to provide a fascinating insight to the work of Hill & Adamson, currently on exhibition at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
This event has been organised in conjunction with Toppings Books.
Complimentary wine/refreshments and nibbles.
